Analysing Shot Types and Key Moments in 28 Weeks Later film opening.
While watching 28 Weeks Later, I had noticed that there was a lot of key moments in the opening of the film and how there was also a lot of good angle shots being used as well. 28 Weeks Later is a film about a zombie apocalypse only being created by a terrible infection, once you are bitten by a zombie, you instantly turn into a zombie.
The first key moment I had noticed was when the boy knocked on the door, this had then made the husband and wife concerned who it was at the door. We then witness the husband (Don) going to open the door as the boy outside is screaming "Someone help me" but the wife (Alice) is telling him that it might not be right to open the door as this will cause trouble. Once the boy is inside the house, Alice offers him food as the boy looks likes he hasn't eaten within a week. The shot type of this scene is an over shoulder angle as you see the boy outside the house over Don's shoulder and by having this angle you can see how shocked the boy is and what he looks like but also just being able to see the metal pole in Don's hand is good because that shows why the boy is shocked as he could be worried why a man is holding a pole.

Other key moment in the film was when the young girl went to one of the windows and took the cloth out to look outside to see what was out there. Moments later, a zombie pops up from the window and attacks the girl, she then gets bitten and turns. This a key moment because she has caused more zombies to get into the house which will then attack everyone else. In this specific scene, we see a close up shot of the girl looking out of the wooden window and we can tell by her facial expressions, that she looks nervous but also shocked. This is when everything goes down hill and she ends up getting infected and turning into a zombie.

This is Alice, which is Don's wife. This is the scene when Don has to make his decision, which is saving his wife and that child or running from the zombie and saving himself. As by the facial expression of Alice, we can tell that she is shouting for pity and is also scared. This is a massive key moment in this film because Don has to make a big decision. This angle shot is a close up, this is because we can see Alice's facial expressions in one shot and we can tell what is going on in this scene.

We then see Don's facial expressions after seeing Alice's and he looks so worried what is going on, the scene shows us Don's POV and what he is going to do next. As he hears his name getting called by his wife, the whole room goes into slow motion because we are now focusing on Don and Alice. The shot angle of this face is a close up because we can see Don's facial expressions of pity again but also sorrow. This is effective because the audience are getting more engaged into the film as a big moment is about to happen.
This is a high angle shot as we can see what Don is doing from a high angle. This scene is where Don is trying to escape from the zombies as he decided to leave his wife and that child. This is effective because we can tell that Don is in a hurry to escape as quickly as he can, this makes him look vulnerable and that the audience is bigger than him. As before he is trying to escape as he is panicking and in shock, not only because he has left his family behind but also because any second he could be attacked by a zombie. By looking at this scene we can tell that he wants to leave and is try really hard to open the window and escape.
