Evaluation 8
Evaluation Task 8: Our Improvements for G324:
With our G321 Film opening, I generally thought we did really well as a group and manage to make our film successful, I also thought Return of Kezia was a effective horror film opening.
There is several aspects as a group of our film making we need to improve for next year.
Mise en Scene:
Starting off with the characters costumes, they were causal because of their age, but I felt like the audience didn't really know who was the antagonist and the protagonist. To improve this, we should change the costumes for each characters, making the antagonist look more dark and tense so that the audience have an idea of what they are. The protagonist should wear clothes that meet their personality which will make the film effective but also the audience will then know which characters are good and which is bad. Another thing we could improve for next year is the location of where we film. Shannon's loft was a really good idea but because it was so small, it was quite hard to film. So we now know from next time we need to think about space.
Sound:
For sound, we could improve it for next year by making the characters dialogue clearer as some parts in Return of Kezia, we couldn't really hear what they were saying as this was because of the surroundings in the background. When we film our trailer for next year, we will make sure that when filming we check over the sound of the dialogue to see if it is clearer as this will give the audience a better look and they will be able to hear much better. Also another improvement would be adding a selection of non-diegetic sound to set the mood for each scene as this will give effect and make the audience be engaged more.
Camera:
A target as a group we have set for next year, is to include a wider range of camera angles as in Return of Kezia we mainly used camera shots. This would then get us higher marks for our trailer next year, which is what we want to aim for. When we do our trailer, we will make sure that we film the scene over again not too many times so that when we have a look over them we can see which scene will look right for our trailer.
Editing:
For editing, we know for an improvement we should add a larger or even smaller variety of cuts between different scenes, but also making sure the scenes are smooth and cut properly, making the film link and making sense for the audience. With this improvement, the audience will then know what is happening.
